MILITARY HISTORY
Military, Aviation and Maritime Histories
We are small, friendly, group without gender boundaries, whose members have a common interest in all aspects of military, aviation, and maritime history. We gather for relaxed and informal discussion, during which the initial focus is provided by question and comment arising from articles circulated in the period since the previous meeting. Inevitably, and very beneficially, discussion broadens into related areas.
Each of us takes it in turn (currently once every seven weeks) to research a subject of our choosing, then to produce and circulate an article that can be short or long, broad in scope or detailed. Our subject matter has spanned the period from Classical times to the present: recent topics include ‘The Battle of Crécy’, ‘The campaigns of Owain Glyndŵr’, The Sahel – France’s Afghanistan?’, ‘The road to Irish Partition’, and ‘Georgi Zhukov’.
If the subject is of interest to you, please make contact.
Meetings: Monthly last Thursday 10am.
